As a performance psychologist, Jack Stark consults to professional football, basketball, hockey, Olympics and NASCAR teams. He is in his 16th year as the team psychologist for NASCAR’s Hendrick Motorsports teams – with drivers Jeff Gordon, Jimmie Johnson (2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2016 NASCAR Cup Champion), Dale Earnhardt, Jr. and Kasey Kahne. He also consulted to NASCAR teams at Team Red Bull with driver Brian Vickers (2003 Nationwide Champion while at Hendrick Motorsports). Jack provides psychological and performance enhancement training to elite athletes at the collegiate, professional and Olympic levels.

From 1989-2004, he served as the team psychologist for the University of Nebraska Cornhusker football and basketball programs. He was also the team psychologist (13 years) for the University of Nebraska-Omaha’s Division I hockey team and continues with the Division II wrestling team. He consults to Creighton University (Omaha) Athletics Department as its team psychologist for all sports for the last 12 years. He has helped train 30 National Champion wrestlers and an Olympic gold, silver, and other Olympic medalists. Nebraska’s basketball program averaged 20 wins a year during his 13-year tenure and won the National Invitational Tournament in 1994. Nebraska’s football team won 88% of its games during his tenure, including 3 National Championships. The Cornhusker football program achieved the highest winning percentage in all college football during the 1990s. The 1995 Nebraska football team was voted the best sports team of all-time at all levels. UNO’s Maverick hockey program has been ranked in the top 10 nationally.

In his corporate consultations, Jack has consulted to more than 50 Fortune 500 Companies providing psychological consultation and coaching to top executive officers. Conducting 250+ workshops nationally, he trained top corporate executives in team-building techniques. He has been featured in the New York Times, on ESPN, CNN, SPEED-TV, HBO and ESPN Films 30 for 30 and was a monthly guest on a local TV affiliate.

Since earning his Ph.D. degree in Counseling Psychology at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 1973, Jack’s diverse career includes serving as faculty at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in the Department of Psychiatry and at Creighton University Medical School Department of Psychiatry. He was full-time teaching and researching faculty at UNMC for 20 years plus as adjunct professor at Creighton University Medical School. At Physicians Clinic, a multi-specialty medical clinic in Omaha, Dr. Stark was Director of Medical Psychology (1981-1997). In 1998, he incorporated as Performance Enhancement Group. Currently he is a consultant to the Center for Advanced Medicine in Jackson Hole, WY.

Dr. Stark is a licensed in numerous states as a Clinical Psychologist. Over a span of 40 years in his medical practice, he has provided psychological consultation to more than 10,000 individuals.

Jack has authored or co-authored 11 books, dozens of articles and chapters, and has presented 200+ scientific papers.

Stark is active in numerous local and national community-service and charitable organizations. He has served on the boards of foundations. Married 46 years, the Starks have a son John (deceased), a son Nick and a daughter Suzy.
